Normandin-Mercier - Grande Champagne XO Cognac
"Since 1872, five generations of the Normandin-Mercier clan have been making some of the finest Cognacs and Pineau des Charentes in the world. Based outside of the village of La Rochelle, the family has been cultivating 90% Ugni Blanc and 10% Colombard and Folle Blanche, which they ferment, distill, age and blend into Petite Champagne and Grande Champagne Cognacs, the greatest crus in the region. The family cellars are as traditional as their methods. Normandin-Mercier is one of the rare producers to use this unusual blend, and they eschew the use of artificial colorants and cold filtration in favor of preserving the character of their pedigreed limestone terroir near the Atlantic. We are absolutely enchanted by this producer, which is why we carry so many of their products!
From the original vineyards in Cognac, this 40-year-old Grand Champagne XO is filled with notes of hazelnut, citrus zest, cinnamon and candied fruit. A perfect holiday spirit!" -SFWTC Staff
