2010 Martin Estate - Cabernet Sauvignon "Bacchanal" Rutherford
"Built in 1887 by Napa pioneer, Sheriff Henry H. Davis, and later owned by Georges de Latour, this historic property laid dormant for decades before Greg and Petra Martin revived it in 1996. In most years "Bacchanal" is a Cab-based blend, but the fruit in 2010 was so perfect that they used 100 percent Cabernet. Growing on the alluvial, loam-laden fans of the valley floor, the Martins farm organically. They employ Napa's hottest young winemaker, Aaron Pott (of Chester's Anvil fame, among other projects) to make their wine. Deeply structured and brimming with notes of forest floor, this Cab stands to open up considerably with age." -SFWTC Staff
