2010 Denis Jamain - Domaine de Reuilly Rouge "Les Chenes"
"On a buying trip to France in May 2013, we got to know Denis and his delicious wines. Reuilly is truly a find! Situated in the eastern Loire, it is graced with the prized Kimmeridgian limestone for which Sancerre is famous, but offers Pinot Noirs and Sauvignon Blancs at a fraction of the price. Denis grew up in Reuilly and studied business in the United States. When he returned to Reuilly, he revived his grandfather’s ailing domaine and has recently converted the vineyards entirely to organic farming. Denis is so passionate about expressing terroir in his wines that he sources his own oak from his own forests to make barrels for this delicious Pinot Noir. Sourced from a single 4-hectare parcel from the lieu-dit of Pierres Plates, the vineyards enjoy full southern sun exposure, creating an elegant and rich Pinot Noir reminiscent of pomegranates and cranberries. Barrel fermented and aged, it also has the structure to age well for several years." -SFWTC Staff
