2009 Fattoria di Fubbiano - Rosso di Toscana "I Pampini"
Fattoria di Fubbiano is the quintessential Italian farm, a 45-hectare estate surrounded by vineyards, olive groves and forest. Disguised under a country (i.e. IGT) appellation, Fubbiano’s “I Pampini” is anything but modest—in fact, it is only produced in the best vintages and is considered to be one of Italy’s most celebrated wines. The blend is composed predominantly of Sangiovese, with a percentage of the Northern Italian grape varietal Teroldego, sourced from their 40-year-old vineyard. Robust notes of red berries are peppered with earthy aromas of anise, tobacco and balsamic, balancing structure with terrific freshness. Either store it in the cellar to enjoy later or drink now, aerated in a decanter.
