2009 Domaine du Gros Nore - Bandol (1.5L)
Hailing from the limestone terroirs of Bandol, Provence’s greatest cru, this cuvee embodies the term “an iron fist in a velvet glove”—also a fitting description for its winemaker, former boxer Alain Pascal. 2009 was a superb vintage, imbuing the Mourvèdre grapes with ripeness, freshness and a minerality that packs a punch. This bottle will age well for decades to come, but if you are ready to pop the cork now, we suggest decanting it for an hour before serving.
Wine Spectator: 94 Points
"Ripe yet elegant, with concentrated flavors of blackberry, dark cherry, tar and dark chocolate. There’s lots of cream and spice midpalate, with a dollop of smoke, followed by a lilting finish of black licorice and bittersweet chocolate, with hints of mint. Drink now through 2020. 265 cases imported." —K.M. Wine Spectator
