A truly special site, this is a majestic Champagne that has superb darker notes of brulée, roasted almonds and lightly spiced caramel, plus blue fruit aromas, cassis and mineral flecked earth. The palate's really rich and structurally powerful; it has a long and chiseled shape that drives deep and long. Powerful yet supple and curvaceous, seductive texture. A great Champagne. - Nick Stock

The 2005 vintage of Clos des Goisses is a stellar wine. The cépages this year is sixty-five percent pinot noir and thirty-five percent chardonnay. It was disgorged in March of 2014 after eight years aging sur latte and was finished off with a dosage of 4.5 grams per liter. The wine is beautifully refined on the nose today, wafting from the glass in a mix of apple, peach, chalky minerality, caraway seed, hazelnut, fresh-baked bread and a lovely touch of upper register smokiness. On the palate the wine is deep, full-bodied, crisp and complex, with a lovely core, excellent soil signature, elegant mousse and a long, complex and impeccably balanced finish. This is the epitome of refinement.

Showing the girth of the vintage, this thrives on power more than finesse, not showing as much complexity at this stage than some of the others in the lineup. It’s creamy and marzipan-like, inviting for its generosity and it balances its flavours of dried apricot and candied peach with lively acidity and a pronounced chalkiness. It feels as if it could develop further and it may gain more refinement and poise with further ageing. Disgorged: November 2013.

Firm and well-knit, with aromas of spring blossom, smoke, ground anise and clove accenting the subtle richness of almond financier, golden currant and lemon parfait flavors on the creamy palate. Fine and chalky, lingering on the finish. Disgorged November 2013. Drink now through 2025. – AN
