2009 Vila Viniteca, white Rueda Verdejo, El Perro Verde, Spain. A green dog (el perro verde) is Spanish slang for a person who is a little bit odd or eccentric. But the connotations are all positive when it comes to this Verdejo! An abundance of ripe apricot, green apple, and limestone are present followed by hints of grilled almonds and honeycomb. Elegant and rather full-bodied with a certain poise and charm that sets it apart from the vast majority of other white wines coming from the region.
