2009 Quinta de Saes, white Dao Reserva, Portugal. (White Wine) Alvaro Castro is widely acknowledged as the leading producer in Portugal’s Dão region. He is the unofficial leader of this emerging movement in the Dão towards small family owned and operated wineries. The 2009 Saes Reserva offers up all of the waxy, citrusy notes found in a White Bordeaux coupled with the stone fruit and luscious minerality found in a German Riesling.
