2009 Maison Trenel, Beaujolais Saint-Amour. Saint-Amour comes from the northernmost sector of Beaujolais and shares borders with Chenas and Julienas. Local lore suggests that the region was named after a Roman soldier (St. Amateur) who converted to Christianity after escaping death and eventually established a mission in the area. True to the name, the wines of Saint-Amour are among the region’s most elegant, engaging and perfumed. Like Julienas and Chenas, this delectable effort offers up subtle and refined notes of wild strawberry, sugar plum spice, anise, crushed rocks and violets. Availability: Currently Out of Stock
