Long before the Etruscans first made their appearance in modern day Tuscany, wild grapes grew throughout the region in abundance. That being said it is the Etruscans who are credited with the domestication of these feral grapes, which according to the historical record, included the forbearers of Sangiovese and Lambrusco (just to name a few). Today, Tuscany is home to countless grape varieties, both red and white, representing more than thirty DOC wines and half a dozen DOCG wines.

Often referred to as "baby Brunello" this bold red stains the teeth with its cherry-infused core, offering fragrant notes of kirsch, scorched earth, tobacco and bittersweet chocolate.

"The 2006 Brunello di Montalcino is one of the more perfumed, vibrant wines to emerge from the southern reaches of Montalcino. Freshly cut flowers, minerals, licorice and juicy black cherries all come together beautifully in this gracious, utterly impeccable Brunello. With time in the glass the wine puts on weight, but the tannins retain considerable elegance and finesse. Subtle hints of oak linger on the impeccable finish. This is a fabulous effort from Talenti. 2009 Orsianna, Chardonnay "Veritas" Mendocino County
As one of the state's most temperate winegrowing regions, Mendocino has long been compared with Burgundy, France. The proximity of the Pacific Ocean and its daily deposits of maritime fog produce wines of impeccable elegance, balance and complexity. Stripped down to the bare essentials. Unadorned by flashy new oak, this elegantly balanced Mendocino County Chardonnay is as fresh and pure as they come. Crisp Bosc pears almost leap from the glass, closely followed by a wisp of gardenia and white tea. Honeydew and tangerine blossoms are present from start to finish and together with the dominant flavors of tree orchard fruit are the perfect ending to an elegant and understated wine.

2007 Orsianna, Cabernet Sauvignon, Mendocino County
This cool climate Cabernet Sauvignon comes from select vineyards scattered throughout Mendocino County, whose unique riverbed soil and proximity to the Pacific Ocean make it ground zero for producing elegantly balanced, seamlessly textured and wonderfully pure Bordeaux-style Cabernet Sauvignon. Moderate use of oak allows the predominantly plush velvety red fruit to shine, adding subtle spice box and cedar notes on both the nose and palate. The wine finishes with a medley of crushed cranberries, dried Bing cherries, pomegranate and smoky graphite. An understated 2007 California Cabernet with a genuine sense of terroir.
