2011 Gernot Gysler, Silvaner Halbtrocken 1L Rheinhessen Germany. Formally known as Grüner Silvaner, this rather obscure grape varietal was once Germany’s most important white. Like many of our German selections, Gernot Gysler is represented in the U.S. by importer extraordinaire, Terry Theise. This Silvaner lives up to its vast potential and reminds us all why this grape was so popular with the Germans up until World War II.
