2009 Eccoci, Red, Girona Spain. Petit Verdot 60%, Merlot 20% & Cabernet Franc 20% (3 mos in wood) Located along the Catalonian coast, in the picturesque national park of Les Gavarres, the Eccoci winery is surrounded by natural beauty on all sides. It is in this landscape that estate-grown Petit Verdot, Merlot, and Cabernet Franc vines make up the Girona blend. Aged for a mere three months in medium toast barrels, the 2009 Eccoci is a brambly effort with highly textured spice-laden tannins, white pepper, cured meat and anise. Smooth and silky tannins provide ample support to the wine’s brambly fruit core.
