When Jean Luc Thunevin isn’t fine tuning his Chateau Valandraud in St. Emilion, he makes this wine from a well kept property across the river from Margaux. The wine is mostly Merlot with a good dose of Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc for complexity. Deep and brooding purple in color, the juicy blackcurrant flavor is hard to resist, so it's accessible now to cut the richness of the best lamb chops or steaks, but forgetting a few in the cellar would not be a bad idea, either.
