2010 Domaine A. & P. de Villaine Mercurey "Les Montots" Cote Chalonnaise
Mercurey’s grapes are thought to produce the greatest red wines within the entire Cote Chalonnaise and the reputation is well-deserved.  Always the earthiest of the Villaine reds, the 2010 is a bold and hearty expression of Pinot Noir.  While admittedly young, after two hours of opening, the wine offers up dry and rustic notes of savory spice, roasted meats, freshly tilled earth, fennel and dark black and blueberry fruit.
